40 years of Fire Safety Engineering

A special symposium was held at Surgeons' Hall in Edinburgh, on the 15th and 16th of May 2014, to commemorate four decades of fire research at the University of Edinburgh.

The conference was an invitation-only event, specially for alumni, sponsors and former staff from the research group. Over 150 delegates came to celebrate the past and consider the future of our discipline.

A programme of technical talks addressing the questions "Where are we? How did we get here? and Where are we going?" was held. Details of all the presentations are given below. Presentational slides, accompanying papers and video of the presentations will be freely published as they become available. A commemorative book is also currently in preparation.

A personal review of the event, by one of the delegates, is given on our blog.
